Today we got a comment and question from Lynn.

Here is what Lynn had to say:

Hi. I am a filipina with Phil. passport and my son was born in US year 2005. We are currently living in the Caribbean. We’re planning to go back to the Philippines next and stay there for awile. What do I have to do to get him dual citizenship? Do I have to apply for it?

And here is Bob’s response to Lynn:

Do I Have to Apply for it?

Do I Have to Apply for it?

Hi Lynn, You will need to file some papers at the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in the US where your child was born. It’s not dual citizenship, rather reporting the birth abroad. When you do that, you child will have both US and Philippine citizenships.

Thank you for visiting, Lynn, and good luck.
